Next BOS Video Meet Up, January 7th, 12 – 1:30 PM Pacific

Topic: BOS Community Share-out – Scaling our BOS Community!

Let’s start the new year together! Jumping forward and looking back!

Raymond Baltar, director of the Sonoma Biochar Initiative, brings over 15 years of leadership to California’s biochar movement. Through collaborative partnerships, he champions place-based solutions that turn hazardous forest biomass into climate-stabilizing carbon. Their in-woods demos and trainings have empowered landowners, tribes, and agencies to adopt flame-cap conservation burn practices to restore soil health, mitigate wildland fire risk, and build rural workforce capacity.

SBI’s work has consistently broken new ground. In 2023, they secured a CAL FIRE grant to launch commercial operations with an ARTi containerized pyrolysis system, now permitted and ready to begin producing high-quality biochar in Napa County.
